Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Work Location: San Diego, CA

InGenesis is currently seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to perform utilization management activities in the Referral Management department for our client in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will validate requested medical services and authorize procedures, labs, radiology, etc.

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to)
• Advise patients of their referral/health treatment options per their eligibility, beneficiary status, and covered benefits.
• Schedule/re-schedule referral appointments within the direct care system.
• Make/receive patient calls and written correspondence regarding specialty clinic appointments and referrals.
• Obtain and enter pertinent information from patients/callers, referrals, physician or other officials.
• Receive and route clinical phone consult requests from patients.
• Provide pre-appointment instructions to patients as well as the details regarding their referral appointment.
• Contact patients in event referral requests are invalid or disapproved.
• Track referral reports after appointments are kept ensuring results from other MTFs are returned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Associates degree in nursing.
• Current, unrestricted LVN license as issued by the state of California.
• 6+ years’ experience in clinical nursing, required.
• Experience in Utilization Management is not required.
• Full-time employment in a nursing field within last 36 months, required.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience directly related to referral/utilization management may be qualifying, if approved.
• Working knowledge of APGs, DRGs, ICD, and CPT-4 coding.
