Medical Records Auditor (CIC / CCS / RHIT / CPC / CPMA)
Work Location: Harrisburg, PA


InGenesis is currently seeking a Medical Records Auditor to perform retroactive and proactive reviews of laboratory findings, various reports, operative notes, consultations, orders, etc. to determine whether patients developed a colon surgical site infection post-op.

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions(including but not limited to)

• Ensure the accuracy of healthcare-associated infection (HAI) data entered in the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).

• Summarize results of audit for each hospital.

• Prepare written reports of findings.

• Ensure necessary changes are made in NHSN based on findings.

• Coordinate meetings with hospital staff.

• Develop timeline to manage completion of project and track progress.

• Provide updates to supervisor to monitor completion of the project.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

1.Option One

a.Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC).

b.1+ year experience using NHSN criteria to identify HAI.


OR


2.Option 2

a.Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).

b.2+ years of related coding experience directly applying codes in the hospital setting within the last 3 years.

c.6+ months auditing experience in the hospital setting within the last 3 years.

d.1+ year post-high school education with 6+ semester hours of health information technology courses.


Preference given to those with NHSN experience.
