Job Summary/Description
This position requires knowledge of bookkeeping; agency and state bookkeeping system, office practices and procedures; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and decimals; supervisory principles/techniques. Skill in operation of adding machine or calculator or other electronic computerized equipment. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; understand bookkeeping procedures and apply principles to solve practical problems; prepare meaningful, concise and accurate reports.

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to)
• Keeps most complex budget accounts and auxiliary records and performs all necessary computations (e.g., third party reimbursements, federal grants, draw-downs, capital improvements, operational accounts).
• Analyzes accounts, expenditures and financial reports for purposes of determining preliminary budget projections; analyzes accounts to assign credit available for consignment of forms; analyzes separate accounts for account balance; account consistency and account impact on total system balance.
• Maintains general books of accounts; assists in maintaining general ledgers and in preparing financial statements and reports.
• Provides training and guidance to new account clerks in maintenance of accounts, preparation of payrolls, invoices, vouchers and related documents; performs variety of clerical functions associated with account clerk activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two (2) courses or six (6) months experience in high school accounting or in accounting for bookkeepers offered by college
• One (1) course or three (3) months experience in operation of adding machine and calculator
• Twelve (12) months additional experience in bookkeeping OR eighteen (18) months experience as Account Clerk 2, 16512 OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
