A day in the life: (just a few of the things you may do on any given day)

  • Managing the security and compliance for Linux infrastructure and end-user workstations.
  • Patch and upgrading Linux servers and workstations.
  • Developing scripts (primarily in bash) for automation purposes.
  • Working with SaltStack to improve capabilities and perform system management tasks.
  • Working with the entire team to resolve or address outstanding vulnerabilities.
  • Responding to customer requests for changes that have an impact on security.
  • Making recommendations for solutions to technical problems.


  • At least 12 years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
  • A solid understanding of Linux platforms.
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools (e.g. Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, and Chef).
  • Familiarity with Linux utilities such as iptables, SELinux, rsyslog, firewalld, rsnapshot, and postfix.
  • Experience with git for version control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Process-oriented action with great documentation skills.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or other related fields.
  • Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with a multitude of infrastructure security tools performing IDS/IPS (Security Onion), log aggregation/analysis (Splunk), and vulnerability scanning functions (ACAS/Tenale/Nessus).
  • Experience with additional scripting languages such as PowerShell, Perl, or Python.
  • Technical certifications from organizations such as Cisco, RedHat, Microsoft, CISSP, Security+, CEH, etc.
  • Experience implementing security controls (e.g. DISA or NIST recommendations)
  • Demonstrated expertise working with traditional networking elements including routers, switches, and firewalls across multiple product lines including Cisco and PaloAlto devices.
  • Experience working in ever-changing dynamic environments.
