What you will do: Grow your infrastructure skills in a research environment

As a Mid-Level Linux Infrastructure Engineer with Networking Experience, you will play a pivotal role in actively shaping and expanding our infrastructure within a dynamic research environment. Your responsibilities go beyond traditional troubleshooting, encompassing the engineering of solutions to extend researchers' capabilities, empowering them to expand and succeed in their research endeavors. You will be a key contributor in resolving technical challenges within Linux and Windows environments through various channels, including phone, email, chat, and ticketing systems (JIRA/Confluence). This role not only involves supporting daily IT operational activities but also making substantial contributions and allows you to help propose and engineer solutions to specific research projects and needs.

Troubleshoot and solve technical problems in both Linux and Windows environments via phone, email, chat and ticketing systems (JIRA/Confluence.) You will support daily IT operational activities as well as a variety of specific research projects/needs.

What we are expecting from you (i.e. the qualifications you must have)

• TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Hands-on experience with Linux and/or Windows
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory
• Experience providing systems and application support for large networks, including hardware and software support, creating and maintaining Active Directory and unix accounts, and resolving tickets in a timely manner
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols; understanding, analyzing, troubleshooting
• Ability to quickly learn and shift in step with the latest virtualization and networking technologies
• Six (6) years of experience in application prototype development and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related discipline, or a Master's Degree with four (4) years experience, or a Ph.D with zero (0) years experience. In lieu of a Bachelors’ degree an additional four (4) years experience is required for a total of 10 years.

Nice to haves:

• Security+ Certification
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM)
• Hands-on experience with storage technologies/protocols (e.g. NetApp, LUNs, Fibre Channel, CIFS, NFS)
• Hands-on experience with networking devices (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade)
