InGenesis is currently seeking a Medical and Scientific Liaison (MSL) to work with our client located in Eastern Canada - Kirkland, QC. In this role, you will provide scientific/therapeutic information to Clinical and Scientific Leaders (CSLs), engage in non-promotional peer-to-peer communication and provide medical/scientific information to SLs and KDMs based on cutting-edge scientific exchange and services oriented towards the stakeholder’s professional interests & needs.

Job Duties

  • Develops and executes on action plans aligned with the field medical standard operating procedure, local and global company policies, local rules & regulations, and the Medical Affairs Plan (MAP).
  • Ensures that the Director, Infectious Diseases, Medical Affairs is fully versed in the therapeutic area and up-to-date on all major studies and the healthcare community to improve patient care.
  • Engages in non-promotional peer-to-peer exchange of medical and scientific information with SLs or KDMs to the extent permitted by law, local regulations and other provisions.
  • Gains deep insights on disease, therapeutic area and healthcare needs, data gaps and challenges in their local geography.
  • Represents Medical Affairs at local or regional non-promotional medical events.
  • Collaborates in the coordination of pre-event scientific information and post-event scientific summaries.
  • Responds to unsolicited requests for medical, scientific, pipeline or marketed product information or indications from SLs or KDMs.
  • Responds (one-to-one) to unsolicited requests for information on company research and/or grant activities by directing SLs or KDMs to appropriate company resources.
  • Participates in Scientific Advisory Board Meetings or Expert Input Forums when there is a defined role.
  • Participates in the development of Medical Affairs Plans (MAP) and implementation of activities identified in the MAP.
  • Identifies potential study investigators for sponsored study at Global Clinical Trials Organization, or Center for Observational and Real World Research personnel request.
  • Provides insights internally on the scientific gaps, ideas and other topics gathered from scientific exchange to inform MISP Areas of Interest, development programs, and company TA strategy.
  • Supporting company commercial colleagues by providing on-label or disease state scientific training to Merck personnel in the therapeutic area when requested and where allowed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pharmacy degree: Pharm D, PhD Degree in Science or Health Sciences (preferably in related disease area) or MD is required.
  • Pharmaceutical experience or equivalent preferably involving work with academic specialists and/or community leaders.
  • 2+ years of experience in the related therapeutic area is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of therapeutic area (both basic and clinical literature).
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and maintain product, disease and competition knowledge.
  • Ability to analyze and understand local community of practice.
  • Ability to understand and integrate complex scientific concepts (e.g. proteomics, metabolic networks or molecular mechanisms of disease).
  • Advanced negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Language requirements: English and French.
