Position Overview

The Senior Director Clinical Informatics will partner across the organization to ensure that health and care providers have the tools and information they need to deliver high-quality services and ensure that leadership has the strategic insights required for financial sustainability. This position will be responsible for standard and ad-hoc reporting and insights using some or all of the following as needed to gain accurate insights: external sources, the company’s data warehouse, EHR, clinical decision support systems, and telemedicine platforms.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Director Clinical Informatics will have the following responsibilities:

Integration of Healthcare Systems

  • Lead the selection and implementation of technology systems that support clinical workflows.
  • Ensure that clinical systems work seamlessly together, integrating EHRs with other clinical and administrative systems to provide comprehensive view of patient information and clinical operations.

Data Management and Analysis

  • Work closely with the data warehouse team to ensure and maintain the accuracy and completeness of clinical data. Establish protocols for data entry, storage, and retrieval ensuring that patient data is reliable and secure.
  • Leverage data analytics to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency by analyzing trends in patient care, identifying areas for improvement and, in partnership with Clinical Delivery leadership develop strategies to enhance clinical performance.

Clinical Support Systems

  • Implement and manage clinical decision support systems to provide real-time information and recommendations to support clinical decision-making and strategic direction to ensure that care is evidence-based and aligned with best practices.
  • In collaboration with Clinical Delivery leadership, develop and update clinical guidelinles and protocols based on the latest research and data, ensuring that providers (internal and partners) have access to current and relevant information when making clinical decisions.

User Training and Support

  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that providers and staff are proficient with systems. This includes training for new hires and ongoing education to keep users up to date with new features and best practices.
  • Work closely with vendors to ensure that SLA are adhered to, system down time is minimized and any technical challenges are overcome in a timely manner.

Regulatory Compliance and Security

  • Ensure that clinical systems comply with relevant healthcare regulations including HIPAA. Implement security measures to protect patient data and conduct regular audits to ensure the highest level of compliance.
  • In collaboration with Technology Services, develop and implement cybersecurity strategies to protect clinical systems from threats. Monitor for potential security breaches, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective measures to safeguard sensitive data

Leadership

  • Lead a team of informatics professionals, hiring and managing team members, setting goals, and ensuring accountability for work completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate and proactively communicate with cross-functional stakeholders, including providers, administrators, technology services, clinical operations, clinical care, network, and external vendors.
  • Create a productive, collaborative, safe and inclusive work environment for the clinical team and as part of the larger company.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or related field

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 7 years healthcare informatics experience with at least three in a leadership position.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare IT systems, including EHRs clinical decision support systems, and data analytics platforms.
  • Proficient with programming languages, database management and network security.
  • Experience with clinical workflows and healthcare practices including a knowledge of medical terminology, clinical guidelines and patient care protocols.
  • Proven analytical skills interpreting data and developing insights to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in strategic planning, project management methodologies and tools and experience overseeing complex technology projects.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to translate technical information into understandable terms for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing and delivering user-training programs and technical support guidance.

The working environment and physical requirements of the job include:

Work is performed indoors in a setting with conditioned air and artificial light. Travel to and work in offices or other environments is required.

In this position you will need an to communicate with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers in person and over devices, sometimes with people who are agitated. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Must be able to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Lifting of up to 10 lbs. occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.
