Position Overview
The Medical Assistant reports to the Practice Manager with accountability for providing strategy, judgment, organization, and evidenced-based analysis to influence decisions, and directly to meet Care Medical Practice’s requirements. The Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support to healthcare providers in a clinical setting and aids in building long-term relationships. Key Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant will have the following responsibilities:
- Perform administrative functions including not limited to verifying patient demographics, insurance, and registration for visits and collection of payment.
- Prepare and complete prior authorizations for diagnostic testing utilizing insurance.
- Management of triages, inbound faxes, referrals, and routing of documents.
- Performance of chart preparation.
- Assist with patient calls and routing appropriately.
- Conducting no show calls and follow up for testing and appointments.
- Prepare patients for provider examinations including, not limited to vitals, BMI, blood pressure, height, weight, and pulse. Verify history and reason for visit.
- Conducting point of care testing, including but not limited to glucose finger sticks, venipuncture, EKG, pregnancy tests, Covid testing and urine testing.
- Perform dressing changes and wound care as appropriate.
- Manage clinical supplies and inventory, checking expirations, and stocking rooms as indicated.
- Completion of forms as indicated and scheduling of patients.
- Monitor and assist with quality measures and tracking.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to show proof of certificate or diploma of completion of course.
- Availability to work Monday – Friday: 8am-5pm

The working environment and physical requirements of the job include:
This position requires in-home, assisted living, and independent-living community based work. The job requires frequent travel for patient visits in all types of weather conditions. Work may be performed in settings with conditioned air, artificial light, and an open workspace.
In this position you will need an ability to travel frequently by car and/or public transportation, the ability to communicate with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers in person and over devices, sometimes with people who are agitated. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Must be able to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Lifting of up to 50 lbs. occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.
