Job Description

InGenesis is currently seeking a Registered Yoga Instructor to work with our client located in Portsmouth, VA. In this role, you will provide direct patient care and confer with patient about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether Yoga Therapy would be helpful.

Job Duties

  • Assess patient’s soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.  
  • Develop and propose specific Yoga Therapy treatment plans for patients.  
  • Inform patients about Yoga techniques for physical improvement with rehabilitative exercises.
  • Record and maintain current and accurate treatment records and health and attendance records.
  • Refer patients to other types of providers when necessary.   
  • Consult with health care professionals to develop treatment plans for patients and discuss current treatments administered to patients.  
  • Confer with supervisor concerning all occurrences involving patients that require attention.
  • Provide Yoga mat work and relaxation technique instructions appropriate to various muscle groups.
  • Provide instruction in the area of Yoga practice for participants of varying levels of fitness, skill and ability.  
  • Emphasize importance of mind-body coordination and demonstrate proper posture.  
  • Monitor participants to ensure proper use of equipment and training/exercise techniques.
  • Use all required safety equipment and take proper safety precautions to prevent accidents.   
  • Provide safe environment for Therapy of techniques and participation of patients.
  • Ensure yoga mats and props used in class are properly sanitized before and after class.
  • Maintain documentation of cleaning activities for Infection Control surveillance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT).
