IT Entry-Level Communications Installer

Job Summary/Description 

We are seeking someone with hands on experience with communication closet cable termination techniques, specifically converting existing 110 block terminations to RJ45 patch panels in a live campus network environment. This position would serve as technical lead of a small team of personnel and would be responsible for training team members, supervising and assigning work, QA of work performed, track use rate of materials, and provide project status updates regularly.  This position is expected to last up to 1 year.

This position works under limited supervision and has flexibility to prioritize and organize work within general guidelines set by management. Work shifts may vary on short notice based on work activities and scheduling requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as technical lead for a small team as well as supervising and assigning work

  • Coordinate scheduling of project work efforts

  • Perform work necessary to convert existing cable terminations from 110 block to RJ45 patch panel

  • Perform QA review of work performed by team

  • Provide regular project status updates

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of directly related communications cabling termination techniques

  • Familiarity with network equipment cabling interconnects and documentation

  • Experience serving in a lead technical role assigning work to members of a small team

  • Minimum of three (3) years directly related work experience in a large scale campus environment

  • Requires extensive standing, walking, repetitive use of hand tools, working from tall ladders, working in damp, dusty, warm, cold, and noisy conditions.
