The Dental Assistant’s goal is to provide personalized health care to patients throughout our outpatient's clinics. Position Summary The dental assistant (DA) serves as the dental assistant and coordinator of dental assisting team. This individual will coordinate the specialized maxillofacial prosthodontic services provided at the University. DA provides chair-side dental assisting services; takes radiographs; assists with laser-based treatments; prepares trays; maintains and places requests for supplies and maintains and cleans dental equipment and instruments. DA assists with care coordination office duties such as pre-authorization, ABN, scheduling, etc. DA is responsible for maintaining quality outcome indicators for this clinic. DA assures that College of Dentistry dental assistants working at the James are trained in the complex care needs of the oncology patient.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Formal training as a dental assistant required.
Radiology certification required with experience with cone beam imaging desired.
One year of experience as a dental assistant desired.
Continuing education in laser-based dentistry desired.
Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen and background check.
