Have earned at least bachelor’s degree in science and have at least five years’
experience with laboratory information management systems.
An applicant with a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science
or medical technology from an accredited institution may also be considered.
or Have an earned master’s or doctoral degree in bioinformatics, computer
science, chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical
laboratory technology from an accredited institution
Have at least two years of experience in high complexity laboratory testing.
Role Description: Acts as a liaison between the Bureau of Laboratories and Bureau of Informatics
and Information Technology
Manage aspects of laboratory informatics to effectively and accurately ensure the
flow of samples, laboratory data, automated workflows and instrument
integration throughout the laboratory and the development and distribution of
laboratory information with associated statewide customers.
Manage and direct overall future design/development/maintenance of the
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) by interfacing with
internal and external partners to properly link informatic systems.
Implement Web Portal functionality for lab test ordering and report retrieval.
Responsible for the management, planning, and reporting of related work and
provide direct coordination and planning with BOL testing/support to improve
workflows, ensure quality operations, and apply the LIMS. Coordinate interactions with public health programs, PA hospitals, state/national agencies; and coordinate with other external public health system partners to apply system and national requirements and functionality to manage, exchange and distribute public health information:
To keep the LIMS operational in aid in the testing of a public health event.
