Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
  • Certain positions in children's and adolescent facilities require completion of a residency program in child psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
  • Basic computer skills to include, but not limited, to Microsoft Office Products Ability to utilize a computer for order entry and/or prognosis notes.

Role Description:

  • This is professional medical work in the field of psychiatry. A resource is responsible for the care and treatment in a Commonwealth facility for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness, dysfunctional behavior and/or a developmental disability.
  • Duties include but are not limited to: full professional responsibility for the diagnosis, determination of treatment methods, and leadership in the implementation of treatment plans.
  • Possess general knowledge of regulations governing licensure, especially as related to chemical and physical restraints and monitoring as well as dose reductions of Psychotropic medications.
  • Work is performed under general direction of a higher-level psychiatrist for clinical supervision or other administrative supervisor for administrative issues and is reviewed for conformance to current, accepted psychiatric and medical principles and techniques through staff conferences, case report observation during performance, and evaluation of results.
