Correctional Dentist (737787)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry. Possession of a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
- Basic computer skills to include, but not limited, to Microsoft Office Products.
- Will also be required to document dental treatment information into the electronic health record system utilized by the Department of Corrections.
Role Description:
The resource in the Correctional Setting is responsible for the care, custody, and control of all inmates in the dental office and undergoing examination, treatment and complete dental care of patients, clients or inmates.
Work may include the supervision of a dental clinic and its subordinate nonprofessional staff. Work may also include the coordination of on-site contractual dental services. The Dentist should be competent in endodontics, operative dentistry, Panorex radiographs, routine extractions, surgical extractions, soft tissue impactions, removable prosthesis, full and partial and treatment of oral infection.
Additionally, the resource is responsible to ensure the security of all dental equipment, instrumentation, medicines, materials, and supplies in the office that are needed to render dental treatment. This responsibility involves inventory, tool control, and accounting for all items on several occasions during each workday.
Work is performed without technical or professional supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned.
