Purpose of Position:
The Drill Assist Product Specialist is a critical role within the Hexagon Mining USCA region, responsible for implementing and supporting Drill Assist applications. This position requires extensive fieldwork, including frequent travel to various sites to deploy and support new Drill Assist systems as well as remote support as needed. The role involves hands-on technical support, system integration, and troubleshooting to ensure successful deployment and operation of Drill Assist products.
Key Features of Drill Assist Products:
· High Precision GPS positioning and machine guidance.
· Autonomous operation of blast hole drilling machines.
· Remote software applications for management of blast designs.
· Agnostic integration with existing all OEM technology platforms.
· Enhanced drill operator performance and improved blasting outcomes through AI powered control algorithms.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
· Implement and support Drill Assist applications at customer sites, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes.
· Provide on-site and remote technical support, including troubleshooting and resolving issues related to electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
· Integrate and configure GPS systems for precise positioning and control.
· Commission automation systems including PLC code and machine control technologies.
· Collaborate with software engineers to develop and debug PLC code for Drill Assist systems.
· Conduct training sessions for customers and internal teams on the operation and maintenance of Drill Assist products.
· Maintain and update technical documentation related to Drill Assist deployments and support activities.
· Work closely with the Product Development team to provide feedback and suggestions for product improvements.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations during installations and support activities.
Knowledge and Experience - Required:
A combination of education and experience demonstrating competency with:
· Proven experience in control systems engineering, particularly in the mining industry.
· Proficiency in Rockwell RSLogix 5000, Codesys software, and Microsoft SQL or similar
· Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
· Experience with Trimble, Novatel, and Septentrio GPS system integration and configuration.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
· Critical thinking and problem solving skills
· Experience with Drill Autonomation products
· Familiarity with data analytics and business intelligence tools.
· Knowledge of mining industry standards and practices.
· MSHA certificate
Travel:
· Willingness to travel extensively for fieldwork (up to 60%)
