Autonomous Training Specialist

The Project
Hexagon has partnered with our client to develop an autonomous haulage solution that will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. The solution, which includes drive-by-wire technology and an autonomous management system, is a truck-agnostic, full-site solution designed to streamline vehicle movement in road-train haulage.
The Position
Reporting to the Autonomous Training Manager within the deployment team, you will join a collaborative project team in a permanent position. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a Training and Competency management system, delivering high-quality training to all roles in our Autonomous Operations Team.
In partnership with our client, working with a wide stakeholder group, as the project evolves you will play an integral role in leading the training and development of our delivering our Train the Trainer program.
Your duties may include, not limited to;
- Establish and enforce a procedure for maintaining and updating training, licenses, and competencies required for employees
- Create and maintain a Training Needs Analysis for all roles including key areas of Autonomy System Operation, safety procedures, protocols, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Develop user manuals, guides, and online documentation
- Conduct Training Needs analysis of site- based roles and tasks
- Deliver training sessions or webinars for internal and customer personnel
- Conduct verifications of competency for Autonomous Road Train tasks
- Facilitate storage and control of all training documentation for reporting and auditing compliance
This is a Perth-based role that has an interchangeable roster will require regular travel (60%+) to Onslow particularly as the project moves into deployment and then operations. The rotation for site will be adhoc, not a defined roster so may align to site patterns inclusive but not limited to M-T or 8:6 roster patterns as per needed. When not on site it will be combined working from Perth CBD office/WFH where applicable.
About you
Are you a Trainer or Operator who has built their career within open pit mining, and looking to expand their career in autonomous technology? This opportunity would suit an Operator/Trainer Assessor or OEM AHS specialist who is passionate about the future of mining, looking to be a part of a significant Australian project that will pave the way for Autonomous Technology growth within our global mining industry.
Ideally you will have experience within the FMS /AHS systems, with experience in coaching and training such with internal employees or customers. This opportunity would suit those who are ready to transition back to Perth but enjoy staying close to site-based operations or those who are interested in location duality in their role. In addition, we are seeking those with the following qualifications and skills;
Technical
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116/TAE40122 minimum or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a training/assessor or operator role in mining with Fleet Management Systems
- Prior experience in operator or OEM environment, with knowledge and skill within AHS system technology
- Current C class drivers’ licence
- Understanding of mining regulations and core safety procedures
Operational & Stakeholder Relations
- Experienced in the development of developing and/or delivering comprehensive training material
- Customer centric and solution focused in engaging with varied stakeholders
- Ability to build cohesive and collaborative interpersonal relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to agile, adaptable and proactive to the adhoc needs of the project as it progress through maturity
General
- Valid Australian working rights: Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen

- Experience working with new technologies through development into deployment
- Ability to work in project environment through conceptual to established lifecycle phases.
