About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for assisting VCP students, and is an integral member of the Visual Communications Lab. The VCP Lab Assistant (Level I) provides daily assistance to VCP Students and Instructors. This position includes responsibility for providing customer support to our staff and students in person, via email, and by phone. The VCP Lab Assistant is often the first point of contact for students, Instructors and guests that enter the VCP Lab, and therefore, must uphold the highest standards for customer service.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Provides first line of support for VCP students:

a. Tutoring.

b. Equipment use and check in / check out procedures.

c. Photo / Video Studio sessions.

d. Printing and Scanning.

e. On campus App and Computer use. (Adobe, Cheqroom, Canvas, etc)

2. Provide first line of support to VCP Instructors with:

a. In Class / Studio sessions.

b. On campus App and Computer use. (Adobe, Cheqroom, Canvas, etc)

c. Printing and Scanning.

3. Inventory of VCP equipment, classrooms and studios.

4. Maintenance of VCP Equipment.

5. Lab Staff are required to keep their work area clean.

6. Assists in all phases of the Biannual VCP Exhibit, this includes printing, matting, framing, and hanging student work as required.

7. Lab staff will occasionally handle cash and checks, and make change for student purchases such as portfolios, prints etc.

8. Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Adobe Creative Cloud and Mac OS preferred.
  • Skills: Written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to multitask in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Proficiencies: Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Scheduling Requirements: Varied work schedule requiring evening and Saturday work hours contingent upon the needs of the visual communications lab. Due to the need of interaction with students, employees, and the college community, this position requires in person presence. This position is not eligible for telework.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to bend and lift up to 50lbs, and occasionally climb ladders.
Based upon the budgeted hours of a position, contribution to the Maryland State Retirement Pension System may be required.
