Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. JOB SUMMARY

Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Cecil College is currently looking for a part-time instructor to teach Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint classes.

We are looking for talented, motivated, and reliable instructors to provide instruction on:

  • The fundamentals of operating a computer
  • Hardware (including keyboard and mouse)
  • Software (including internet browser navigation, Microsoft Office programs, and email)
  • MS Excel: formatting, how to create and maintain tables and charts, and functions, pivot tables and working with multiple worksheets
  • MS Word: develop themes, move text, customize headers and footers, apply styles, and change margins.
  • MS PowerPoint: techniques for presentations, incorporating and editing video clips, creating custom logos, developing themes, and complex animation.
  • Other basic computer functions to improve students' computer literacy

Additional responsibilities include: Supervising and monitoring students' use of equipment. Observing and evaluating students' work to determine progress, providing feedback, and making suggestions for improvement. Maintain attendance and administrative forms. Administering assessments to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in using MS Office with advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be adept at instructing adult students at various skill levels
  • Evening availability required
  • Teaching experience highly preferred

Schedule: 2 evenings per week; 4-6 hours per week.

Physical Demands:

Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment:

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.

The rate for the position is $36.25 per hour
