Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.
With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

General Description:
A lab assistant is supervised and directed by the course instructor and is not involved in assessment activities. Their position is to assist students with hands-on practice.
Details:
- For a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), the assistant shall serve as a contracted employee of the College.
- Lab assistants will be hired and paid on a PRN basis at an hourly rate established at the time of contract.
Responsibilities & Duties:
As a lab assistant, the duties are to:
- Assist the primary course instructor in facilitating practice in educational activities that promote student learning and success. These activities will be executed during labs and will serve to assist students in attaining the instructional objectives of the course.
- If requested to do so by the Department Chairperson, provide feedback on the efficacy of the activities, and/or student participation.
- Review course materials in advance of the date of service to ensure a quality student learning experience.
- Use the College email account assigned to the member and check that account on a daily basis.
- Adhere to all FERPA regulations.
- Complete all mandatory annual education required by the institution.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited PT or PTA program, or deemed equivalent program.
- Licensed PT or PTA in any US state, eligible for licensure in Maryland.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience as a PT or PTA.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americanal education, students, and the profession of physical therapy.
- Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.

- Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy.

Preferred Attributes: (in no specific order)
- Member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Prior teaching experience in PT or PTA program or equivalent coursework.
- Knowledge of education, management, and adult learning theories and principles.
- Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical education.
- Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

The hourly rate for this position is $30/hr. 7 hours a week.
