Job Description

The Roanoke College IT and Media Technology Specialist successfully supports high-profile events across campus. They provide support and/or training for the various hybrid and/or streamed events across campus. Many of these are after normal working hours. They train student staff across various areas that are responsible for media, in regards to computer software, cameras, lighting, broadcasting, editing, green screen, live music production, sound recording, and live streaming. The IT and Media Technology Specialist monitors current technologies trends and developments, ensuring that the College’s event technologies are up-to-date, effective, user-friendly and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for high-profile events across campus
  • Coordinate AV needs with outside vendors
  • Support and/or provide training for the various hybrid and/or streamed events across campus.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support and troubleshooting for campus AV-related technology equipment
  • Coordinate event technology equipment set-up
  • Coordinate technical and media support for college sponsored and/or hosted conferences and events
  • Assist with media/AV related student projects
  • Performs consulting and coordinates support of digital media to include video editing project
  • Maintain the inventory of event equipment and software for event needs
  • Administer video conferencing and media streaming technology software
  • Train student staff
  • Willingness to work after hour and weekend events creating a flexible schedule for normal hours
    • Standard hours when no events are happening would be M-F, 8am – 4:30pm
  • Solve problems creatively and keep up-to-date with new event and AV trends
  • Provide excellent client service and consulting
  • Effective communication with managers, coworkers and clients
  • Regular attendance
  • Know and follow data information security policies
  • Follow College policies
  • Other related duties and assignments as required

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 4 Years Minimum event technology troubleshooting required
  • Experience with Extron, Crestron, AMX or other audio-visual control systems preferred
  • System implementation and project management experience preferred
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License required
  • Higher Education Experience preferred
