Summary: People’s Family of Corporations is seeking a Registered nurse to work as part of a team. The successful candidate will work with a physician, a licensed practical nurse (LPN), other nurses and healthcare professionals to provide care, monitor health conditions, plan long-term care needs, administer medicine, use medical equipment, perform minor medical operations, and advise patients and their families on illness, care and overall health improvement. The Registered Nurse (RN) will assist the medical team in various tasks in People’s Healthcare Services by Home State Health Clinics, new health collaboration with Centene, Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers, and Schnuck's. You will provide general nursing care to pediatrics in the health care facility by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Explains procedures and treatments to the parents to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.

Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol. Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction. Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery. Assists in surgery by handing items to Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner. Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.

Education and/or Experience :
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) with a valid Missouri Nursing License. Must have three years of experience in ambulatory care or experience in Women's Health, pediatric or public health setting desirable.

Language Skills :

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
