BJK Peoples Health Centers is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adults in the northern and central parts of the City of St. Louis and North St. Louis City. A professional mental health staff serves a growing caseload of 2,800 patients, of which greater than ninety-five percent are chronically mentally ill and suffering from major psychiatric disorders. BJK Peoples Health Centers operates a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center and a Comprehensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center for adults and youth.
POISITION: COMMUNITY SUPPORT SUPERVISOR
DEPARTMENT: CPRC
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: PROGRAM DIRECTOR/SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY LIVING
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide clinical supervision for up to seven community support workers. Twenty (20)
percent of the supervisor’s time is allocated to each supervisee.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Will provide detailed reviews of client situations and necessary interviews, identification of referral needs, review and adequacy of service delivery, and time management. Supervisors will maintain a log of these sessions for each of their assigned workers with observations that will be used in the worker’s annual performance evaluations.
2. Perform clinical interviews for intake and periodic evaluations of CPRC clients as prescribed by CPRC policies and procedures.
3. Serve as a community support worker to prorated caseload as determined by the percentage of time available exclusive of other duties.
4. Participates in the CPRC emergency response system and provide crisis intervention and resolution services as needed.
5. Participate in the quality assurance process as assigned by the program director.
6. Audit at least three (3) medical records each week per CSW for compliance to standards and quality care. Assuring all criteria is present for Progress Notes, Clinical Assessments, Treatment Plans and billing documentation.
7. Conduct weekly individual supervision, staff meetings, individual counseling and coaching/monitoring will occur as indicated earlier. Orientation, workshops and training will allow opportunities to gain knowledge of program, staff, management and supervision.
8. Maintain a Development Plan for staff supervised to include a list of charts reviewed, report of outcomes from the review, documentation that monitoring/coaching occurred, and summary of staff overall knowledge level, ability to meet expectation of program requirement and area where enhancement is needed.
9. Conduct record audit within the quality assurance process will be modified to use the key elements of the audit checklist; to ensure that; services and documentation meet standards and guidelines:
§ To verify the treatment plan and assessment contain all the necessary elements
§ To verify that a physician’s signature or another qualified staff is present on the treatment plan and assessment;
§ To check that the treatment plan and assessment were done within the required timelines and include the required elements and signatures;
§ To verify that the progress note contain interventions related to the treatment plan
§ To review notes and billing reports to ensure that services are not billed for assessments if the assessment is not completed within the required timeline;
§ That the service has been billed to the appropriate payer source; and
§ To identify trends or patterns which suggest staff non-compliance to standards.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree form an accredited university in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or Psychiatric Nursing and two (2) years of relevant experience with the treatment and assessment of the mentally ill, Experience in supervision preferred.
