ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Behavior Health Billing Clerk plays a crucial role in by ensuring accurate and timely processing of billing information for patients and insurance companies. This position is responsible for maintaining financial records, verifying patient information, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Billing Clerk will work closely with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies and assist patients with their inquiries regarding charges. By effectively managing billing operations, the Billing Clerk contributes to the financial health of the organization and enhances patient satisfaction. Ultimately, this role is vital in facilitating the smooth operation of healthcare services and ensuring that providers are compensated for their services.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and maintain all SALs for Facility, including corrections and update daily into the CMHC system.
  • Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility for services rendered.
  • Communicate with patients and insurance companies to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update financial records and billing databases.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies related to billing.
  • Post all payments billed to DMH.
  • Research Not Billed items for POS, Medicaid, and Medicare and make corrections where possible and send remaining items to Clinical area for correction.
  • Review error bucket items daily and correct.
  • All other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICTATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in billing or a related field, preferably in healthcare.
  • Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR).
