Summary: Diagnoses and treats variety of diseases and injuries in general practice by performing the following duties.

Educational Requirements: Graduate of an accredited Medical School, Completion of Internship and Residency or Fellowship program in Internal Medicine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Elicits and records information about patient's medical history. Examines patient to determine general physical condition. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition. Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs. Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. Performs minor surgery. Advise and assist with referrals for back-up services. Cooperate in preparing claims for third-party insurance billing. Monitor and give guidance on specialized services including laboratory, pharmacy, etc. Maintain hospital privileges for in-patient care as appropriate to individual practice. Participate in patient education within the health center and community. Assist with quality assurance program related to direct patient care.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise mid-level practitioners

Professional Licensure Requirements: Current, active license to practice Internal Medicine in the State of Missouri; current DEA and BNDD certificate; and any other State or Federal correspondence relating to Family Medicine, Current Board Certification in Internal Medicine. Current Driver’s license, CPR Certification.
