BJK Peoples Health Centers is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adults in the northern and central parts of the City of St. Louis and North St. Louis City. A professional mental health staff serves a growing caseload of 2,800 patients, of which greater than ninety-five percent are chronically mentally ill and suffering from major psychiatric disorders. BJK Peoples Health Centers operates a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center and a Comprehensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center for adults and youth.
Summary:
A Residential Therapist provides comprehensive mental health support to individuals residing in a structured residential setting, utilizing evidence-based practices to promote positive behavioral change and overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Services:
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions with both outpatient adult and residential clients, tailoring interventions to address specific client needs and diagnoses within a residential context.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans, incorporating client feedback and progress monitoring.
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members (e.g., case managers, medical staff) to ensure holistic client care.
- Other relevant clinical tasks as needed within the organization.
Residential Environment:
- Foster a supportive and safe therapeutic environment within the residential setting, promoting positive interactions and conflict resolution.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed. Respond to client crises in a calm and professional manner, utilizing appropriate intervention strategies.
- Facilitate participation in structured activities and community integration initiatives that align with treatment goals.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive client records, including therapy notes, treatment plans, and progress reports.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards, including confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Professional Development:
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities, staying current with evidence-based practices in the field.
- Participate in clinical supervision and team meetings to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- LPC or LCSW preferred
- Candidates eligible for provisional licensure must provide proof provisional license within 90 days of hire.
- Demonstrated experience in providing individual and group therapy, preferably within a residential setting.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and behavior management strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
