About Us

A fast-growing, mission-driven school food service company is seeking a reliable and friendly hands-on Maintenance Coordinator responsible for doing preventive maintenance on all production equipment to join our energetic team. This person is responsible for proactively maintaining operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive / predictive maintenance. You should have strong moral character, with a willingness and appreciation for open dialogue and transparency. 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical / electrical equipment by completing required repairs on production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and machinery. Clean equipment and remove debris to improve efficiency. Maintain PM plans based off breakdowns

  • Process necessary documentation and SOPs regarding procedures performed and equipment maintenance plans.

  • Control downtime by performing hands on training with production workers on routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

  • Have the ability to validate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance routines and recommend improvements and changes.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical and hydraulic repairs used in mechanical maintenance work assignments.

  • Locate sources of problems by observing electrical/mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts

  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other standard measuring instruments.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.

  • Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are in compliance with OSHA, Federal, Local and plant safety standards.

  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations

  • Proven track record of being trained on new equipment and troubleshooting independently 

Candidate Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Equipment Maintenance / Preventative Maintenance Procedures

  • Technical understanding, zeal and ability to deal with uncertainty

  • Basic understanding of safety procedures

  • Experience with power tools

  • Self-Starter

  • Critical decision making ability

  • Flexibility and adaptability and ability to focus and pay attention to detail

  • Applicant must be reliable, punctual, presentable

  • Experience with Flow Wrappers a plus

Job Details 

  • Full-Time: 40 hrs./week, occasional weekend and evening hours as needed

  • Location: 1200 W Cermak, Chicago Illinois 60608
