Kitchen Prep / Cook , Packing & Expediting

Kitchen Production | Full Time and Part Time | Pay $17.05 to $18.00/hr. DOE

Our mission is to strive for a sustainable future for our children by providing local and sustainable school lunches and healthier eating options. We provide quality ingredients as well as connections and partnerships to educational resources on healthy food curriculum, the value of fresh healthy and sustainable food, garden projects, and ecological awareness. This position will work primarily out of our commissary kitchen, but will be on call from the kitchen.

Duties:

• Help with kitchen prep and production

• Packing truck with delivery items

• Checking and confirming delivery items

• Basic food prep

• Portioning a variety of food items

• Preparing meals for service at schools

• Set up, break down, and clean kitchen workspace/ equipment

Job Details

• Kitchen Prep Hours: 6am - 2pm (part-time to full-time)

• PM Expediting Hours: 2pm-Close

• Days: Monday – Friday

• Location: 833 W. Haines St. Chicago IL, 60642

• Start: Immediately

Requirements

• Food Handlers certification is a plus, but not required upfront; the selected candidate must obtain it within 30 days of hire.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Applicants must be reliable, punctual, presentable, as well as attention to detail and timeliness.

• Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to read, write, count and comprehend standard documentation.
