Seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager/Lead Baker experienced in big batch baking to lead a high volume kitchen specializing in school lunches cooked from scratch. Will be using large-scale equipment. Finesse and attention to detail is vital. Bread baking, Gluten-Free baking, quick bread, muffins, and energy bars are just a snapshot of the baking duties this position will be responsible for. Will also be in charge of overseeing high volume batch cooking of a variety of other foods such as meats, sauces, pasta, and veggies by a highly diverse team of cooks.

A successful candidate is one who is focused, competitive and driven by a passion for the mission to deliver good food to kids. You should have strong moral character, with a willingness and appreciation for open dialogue and transparency. This position will join an energetic, passionate team that is excited to make healthy food for kids. It is required that the candidate is a highly organized person with exceptional time management skills. Also, are able to transfer those organization and time management skills to the team of hourly cooks you will be overseeing.  The Assistant Manager/Lead Baker will report directly to the Production Manager and work closely with management to develop new products.

Job Duties:

  • Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the company’s plans and vision

  • Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks

  • Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching

  • Ensure safe and timely production, including food safety, sanitation, correct cooking, holding chilling time and temperature

  • Report incorrect recipes and improve the consistency of methods carried out by team


  • 1-2 years of baking experience. Previous successful management experience.

  • Responsible, reliable, and diligent worker able to work with little supervision

  • Ability to read and write English
