Summary of Responsibility

Finalsite is seeking a proactive and collaborative Product Owner to join our Communications Team, working closely under the guidance of the Product Manager for Communications. In this role, you will contribute to the development and success of our communications product line, which encompasses messaging platforms designed for school administrators. Your focus will be on understanding user needs, refining product features, and ensuring the seamless execution of the product roadmap.

Job Responsibilities

  • Feature Specification and Backlog Management: Collaborate with the Product Manager to define user stories, acceptance criteria, and maintain the product backlog. Ensure clarity and prioritization align with the overall product strategy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between the development team and various stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, and the Product Manager, to gather requirements and feedback.
  • Sprint Planning and Review: Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and review meetings, ensuring that the development team clearly understands the deliverables and objectives for each sprint.
  • Market and User Research: Assist the Product Manager in conducting market research and user testing to gather insights, validate features, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain comprehensive documentation for product features, updates, and user guides. Communicate effectively with the development team and stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of product goals.
  • User Experience and Quality Assurance: Work closely with UX/UI designers and quality assurance (QA) teams to ensure that the product delivers a superior user experience and meets quality standards.
  • Data Analysis: Support the Product Manager in analyzing product performance data, user feedback, and market trends to inform product decisions and enhancements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork across departments, including engineering, sales, marketing, and support.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • 7+ years of Product ownership / Product Management experience
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, product development lifecycle, and backlog management.
  • Good understanding of mobile platforms (iOS, Android) and app development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; MBA or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze data and make data-backed decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to Finalsite's mission.
  • Agile/Scrum certification is a plus.
  • Excellent digital collaboration skills, being able to work across multiple geographic regions and time zones using various internet-based tools.
