A leading medical institution is seeking a Labor Relations Representative to support labor and employee relations in a unionized environment. This role will focus on managing employee relations cases, interpreting collective bargaining agreements, handling grievances, and partnering with leadership to ensure compliance and effective labor-management relations.
Labor Relations Representative Responsibilities:
- Manage employee relations matters in a unionized environment, including handling grievances, conducting investigations, writing corrective actions, and ensuring documentation is thorough, accurate, and legally defensible.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), support negotiations, and partner with union representatives to resolve disputes while ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
- Advise and coach managers and supervisors on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee relations best practices to reduce risk and promote effective workforce management.
- Lead or support labor relations activities, including negotiations, training, and dispute resolution, while representing management interests and maintaining positive labor-management relationships.
- Analyze complex labor issues, prepare reports and recommendations, and communicate effectively with senior leadership regarding risks, decisions, and outcomes.
Labor Relations Representative Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on employee relations experience in a unionized environment, including managing high-volume ER cases, writing discipline and corrective action documentation, and coaching managers.
- Direct experience working with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), including handling grievances, union disputes, and applying contract language to real-world situations.
- Knowledge of labor and employment laws, negotiation strategies, and dispute resolution practices.
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to clearly articulate issues and recommendations to mid- and senior-level leadership.
- Experience in the public sector or higher education environments is preferred.
Shift:
- Monday, Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
