A leading electronics testing company is seeking a CNC Machinist (Swing) to operate CNC Swiss-style lathes on swing shift, producing small, high-precision turned parts while taking full ownership of product quality.
CNC Machinist (Swing) Responsibilities:
- Operate a CNC Swiss-style lathe to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. Make in-process adjustments to tooling, offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain part quality and dimensional control, and follow standard work, drawings, and setup sheets.
- Take full ownership of product quality on shift, including inspection, documentation, and adherence to specifications and control plans, and escalate quality, safety, or equipment concerns to prevent defects from reaching the next operation.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and correct machining issues such as tool wear, machine alarms, surface finish problems, and dimensional variation, and perform routine machine checks and preventive actions to minimize downtime and keep equipment ready.
- Grind, sharpen, and recondition carbide and HSS cutting tools per specification, maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records, and keep the tool and machine shop area clean, organized, and safe.
- Work closely with peer machinists and management to ensure smooth shift handoffs, clearly communicating machine status, job progress, open issues, and improvement opportunities.
CNC Machinist (Swing) Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience and/or education in CNC Swiss/lathe machining, FANUC CNC controls, machining small high-precision turned parts, and troubleshooting machining and quality issues.
- Some college or technical coursework is preferred.
- Ability to interpret specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Carbide tool grinding and/or resharpening experience is preferred.
- Advanced metrology experience is preferred.
