Manager, Global Institutional Giving

Philanthropic Development | Hybrid in New York, NY | Full Time | From $80,000 to $90,000 per year

Job Description

Sesame Workshop seeks a Manager, Global Institutional Giving, to join its dynamic Institutional Giving team. The Institutional Giving team is the knowledge center for bilateral, multilateral, and foundation investment for Sesame Workshop’s global early childhood development programming and drives impact for Sesame’s programs by securing strategically- and value-aligned investments and partnerships. This position will be responsible for a wide range of business development activities, the most significant of which are: landscape research and prospecting, concept and proposal development, and managing a portfolio of donors and partners to secure new funding for Sesame Workshop, contributing to ambitious fundraising targets. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Research and build out institutional prospect lists for priority initiatives and geographies
  • Enter and track prospects and grant activity in Salesforce
  • Analyze the donor landscape and manage teaming decisions for competitive consortium proposals 
  • Develop and manage protocols, timelines, and knowledge management and organization systems for timely submission of proposals and reports 
  • Prepare donor profiles and contribute to briefing documents for upcoming events and meetings; conduct evidence-backed funder due diligence, identifying potential risks and opportunities
  • Working closely with the Senior Director, Institutional Giving, building capacity of country office fundraising teams to improve and align development processes, bolster local funding pipelines and engagement plans, and support proposal development
  • Develop strong and compelling concept notes and proposals for foundations and bi- and multilateral entitiesManage the contracting process for grants and contracts, including for compliance-heavy government contracts
  • Work collaboratively with Sesame Workshop program teams on project planning for proposals and updates for reports
  • Work in close partnership with project managers to ensure successful start-up and positioning of new contracts


Qualifications: 

  • B.A. degree or similar experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in foundation and/or government project management or business development – a focus on early education, humanitarian, or crisis-affected programs a plus
  • Strong understanding of international development systems and funding streams; familiarity with funders and philanthropies funding international and global social impact programs; experience working on federal opportunities, including USAID a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to move early-stage prospects to engaged funders
  • Must be a strong project manager with previous experience coordinating large proposals or similarly complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent writing, organization, verbal communication, and desk research skills
  • Strong relationship management skills with a range of organization types
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
