Job Description

Sesame Workshop has an immediate need for an experienced Director, Finance to oversee and own the budgeting, financial planning, and reporting for a portfolio of programs within the International Social Impact group. The position calls for a detail-oriented professional with a strong financial background and working knowledge of donor budgeting and reporting. The Director, Finance must be comfortable interacting with various levels of management and highly confidential information. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Program Finance.

The Director, Finance will support the financial management and reporting around a portfolio of country offices and humanitarian projects. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must come with solid budgeting, financial planning, reporting and compliance experience to assist with the management of large components of the International Social Impact portfolio. Additional requirements include advanced experience in working for an NGO/non-profit, creating, revising, and monitoring donor-funded program budgets, supporting proposal development, and preparing financial reports (e.g., budget vs actual) and analysis.

The ideal candidate is someone who can build financial models, gather the information necessary to forecast revenues and expenses, and think into the future, but who will understand how to incorporate prior performance into the planning and budgeting process. It also requires someone who can operate independently and think for themselves but is willing to bring that independence into a team environment and share information with others, all working towards common goals. We are looking for someone who can delegate responsibility, comfortable speaking and presenting financial information and recommendations to all areas of senior management (e.g., SVP, International Social Impact, SVP, Operations, Chief Development Officer). Finally, the candidate will have previous experience working on a team providing financial support to offices/subsidiaries outside of the United States.
