Job Description

Roanoke College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic Student Wellness Services team. The LPN will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and efficient healthcare services to our diverse student population. Primary responsibilities include delivering direct nursing care to students including health assessments and medical history review while providing support to clinical providers. Must enjoy working with the young adult population and committed to promoting student well-being. Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic nursing care, including changing bandages, inserting catheters, and administering medications.
  • Monitor patients' health, such as checking their vital signs and reporting any changes to the responsible Registered Nurse or Doctor.
  • Maintain patient records and document any changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional conditions.
  • Report patients' status and concerns to Registered Nurses and Doctors, as well as families and healthcare teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Proven experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong attention to detail.
  • Solid communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals.

Nice-To-Haves:

  • Prior experience in an educational institution, particularly higher education.
  • Previous experience in mentoring or teaching other nursing students or professionals.
  • Additional Certification or Training in specialized areas of nursing.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other languages commonly spoken by our diverse patient and student population.
  • Knowledge or experience with specialized medical software or technologies.
