Job Description

Roanoke College is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-service oriented individual to join the Accounting team and participate in the accelerating momentum created through the roll-out of College’s new strategic plan.  Primary responsibilities include supervision of multiple general ledger and accounting functions, cash management and reconciliation, and supporting the annual external audit.  The expectation is that this position will evolve over time and gain broader exposure to other accounting and financial functions.  With that goal in mind, the College is seeking applicants that show initiative and work well independently.

Required qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field of study and 5 -7 years of related work experience.  Ability to operate under minimal supervision, prioritize work and meet deadlines, and handle sensitive issues.  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with large data sets to create financial reports.

Preferred qualifications:  Experience with bank reconciliations and cash management.  Prior fund accounting, especially in the higher education field.  Experience with Ellucian Colleague and/or Synoptix a plus.

Roanoke College is a nationally ranked residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Lutheran Church (ELCA), located in the beautiful Roanoke Valley of Virginia. A Phi Beta Kappa institution, Roanoke College is an equal opportunity employer and actively seeks diversity among its faculty, staff, and students; women and members of under-represented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
