Strategy Director

Strategy/Communication | Hybrid in New York, NY | Full Time | From $140,000.00 to $160,000.00 per year

We are seeking a visionary Strategy Director to lead our strategic planning initiatives. You will be pivotal in building marketing communications strategies that generate meaningful business metrics for our client and result in reputation-building ideas and case studies to solidify our leadership position in the market.

Essential Functions: Other Duties May Be Assigned.

Strategic Leadership and Work Development

  • Drive the strategic planning process, fostering innovative ideas and actionable insights designed to achieve client objectives.

  • Lead the development of powerful go-to-market strategies, that include strong points of view across:

    • Role of marketing in driving business results (and associated KPIs), and clear articulation for how media will deliver on them

    • Market and audience focus

    • An investment strategy to determine how to allocate budget across channels, time, and audiences.

    • Messaging and creative approach (in collaboration with creative agencies and client creative teams)

    • A connections platform built on the creative idea and brand positioning to inspire disruptive media ideas in-market

    • A measurement strategy to evaluate live signals as a path to understanding the impact on business results.

  • Develop strategies that combine compelling product insights, consumer behavior, data analytics, and creative vision to inspire innovative solutions.

  • Develop powerful solutions that inspire the wider marketing org, providing opportunities to influence adjacent disciplines such as brand strategy, PR, partnerships.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure client/business alignment and pressure test approaches against agency standards for creative output potential.

  • Maximize consumer research and competitive analysis to build compelling brand stories and strategies.

Client Management

  • Act as a senior strategic advisor to our clients, providing insights and recommendations that guide their marketing and business decisions.

  • Develop trusting relationships with senior client stakeholders to ensure alignment and mutual understanding of strategic objectives.

  • Establishes a true partnership in client’s business by gaining and maintaining a deep understanding of business needs and issues faced. Maintains a vocal, visible role in all major internal and client meetings.

Team and Process Development

  • Mentor and develop a team of independent strategists, instilling advanced strategic practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Codify a strategic process built for scale, arming strategists with the necessary tools and structure to maximize quality of work efficiently across accounts, including working alongside the Head of AI to consistently improve AI-backed strategy tools/solutions.

  • Encourage a collaborative environment where ideas can flourish and lead to ground-breaking campaign strategies.

Innovation and Agency growth

  • Keep abreast of the latest industry trends and tools, integrating new age solutions like AI and machine learning into strategic recommendations where applicable.

  • Regularly present insights and strategies to both clients and internal teams, highlighting new opportunities for growth and efficiency.

  • Actively participates in new business pitches, as determined by President.

  • Provides thought leadership in marketing, consumer behavior, creative and emerging media, and measurement


  • At least 8 years of strategic planning experience in a media company, creative agency or consultancy.

  • Proven track record of developing strategic plans that utilize data and insights to achieve business growth and client satisfaction.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply unique insights into actionable briefs with creative solutions.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing and inspiring a growth-oriented team.
