Urban Designers

Architectural | London | Full Time

Job Description

We are looking for urban designers and architects with some knowledge/experience urban design of the following grades to join the Grimshaw London office to work on a large, ambitious and complex masterplanning project.  

Experienced urban designers/architects (8- 10 years + experience)

You will be responsible for leading a team working on specific mini masterplans to outline planning level.  This is a client facing role and involves a high level of consultant coordination.

You will have excellent design ability and have proven experience interpreting client’s needs into high-quality design concepts as well as the confidence to develop and lead client relationships.

With previous experience managing similar projects, you may have an architectural or urban design background but must have some specialisation in urban design/master planning in recent years. 

You will have the ability to lead teams to produce high-quality graphics for engagement and equally be able to succinctly communicate the ideas and concepts contributing to key presentations to clients.

Mid-grade urban designers/architects (5-8 years’ experience)

You will play a pivotal role in design development testing and also assisting in the production of engagement material with local stakeholders and communities.

You will take responsibility for certain workstreams, holding knowledge and the ability to run quick tests on design ideas. You will have the opportunity to work across different scales inputting to the developing of settlement-wide strategies to working with landscape architects on details such as the design of a riverfront.

You will be able to produce or assist in the production of high-quality graphics of the emerging urban layouts.

You will have some knowledge of Revit if possible, along with the usual CAD proficiencies.

Junior urban designers/architectural assistants (0-5 years’ experience)

You will be exposed to a number of urban design ‘mini’ projects and as part of a team, assist in testing design and helping in the production of drawing material.  

You will produce high quality graphics to communicate ideas not just to the client but to stakeholders including the surrounding residents.

You will work with the senior urban designs in the collation of reports and be responsible for illustrating design ideas and emerging masterplans through simple and clear diagrams.

Under guidance from the senior team you will be able to produce high quality illustrations of the masterplans.

You will have some knowledge of Revit if possible, along with the usual CAD proficiencies.
