IT Systems Administrator

IT | New York | Full Time | From $90,000 to $100,000 per year

Job Description

Grimshaw’s IT department is a dynamic, solution-oriented team that supports architectural projects and requirements globally. This role, based in New York, focuses on the North American region while collaborating with the wider global team to support peers and share knowledge.

The primary responsibility is to maintain the technical health, availability, performance, and security of Grimshaw’s IT infrastructure, ensuring management and staff remain as productive as possible. The role involves close cooperation with other technical departments (Design Technology, Computational Design, CGI, and Graphics), focusing on cross-department dependencies and software lifecycle management under the guidance of the Information Technology Lead.

Additionally, you will respond to support tickets, providing exceptional customer service to both management and staff.

Systems experience requirements

  • Experience qualifications in a Windows environment (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Intune, PDQ Deploy and Inventory)
  • Proficiency in managing Office365/Active Directory Hybrid domains and Intune (Group Policy knowledge highly desired)
  • Knowledge of PowerShell (scripting ability highly desired)
  • Experience supporting video conferencing systems (Zoom and Poly preferred)
  • PC image creation methods & deployment
  • VMware virtualization technologies
  • Remote desktop protocol use and support (Splashtop and Parsec preferred)
  • OS patching
  • Exposure to change control processes (Working with Freshworks a plus)
  • Experience/qualifications administering Meraki Wi-Fi networks and devices
  • Experience managing wired networks (HP/Aruba switching and Watchguard firewalls preferred)
  • Proficiency with iOS, Android devices and configuration
  • Ability to ensure consistent backup and archive processes
  • Experience contributing to business continuity, disaster recovery planning and testing

Additional skills and competencies

  • Three to four years of relevant experience in the field
  • A qualified candidate should possess superior customer service skills with a cheerful and positive disposition
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Responsible, confident and highly motivated. Have a strong ability to work independently and proactively
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills are required. Ability to prioritize with a problem-solving mindset
