SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Technical Accessibility Specialist, Website QA, ensures that Finalsite websites and digital products meet current accessibility standards and deliver inclusive experiences for all users. This role combines technical accessibility testing, audits, and documentation with frequent client-facing communication and education.

The Specialist works closely with clients, Front-End Developers, Product, QA, and Professional Services teams to identify accessibility issues, provide actionable recommendations, and verify resolution. Responsibilities include performing accessibility audits, conducting manual testing, supporting OCR cases, implementing accessibility tools, generating reports, and helping clients and internal teams understand accessibility requirements and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct accessibility audits for client websites using a combination of automated tools and manual testing, including:

    • Keyboard navigation and screen reader testing

    • Semantic HTML structure and ARIA attributes validation

    • Accessible labeling for buttons, links, and icons

    • Screen reader testing

    • Comparing patterns to trusted sources (MDN, W3C, WebAIM)

  • Document accessibility issues with clear action items, screenshots, and links for Front-End Developers and QA teams.

  • Participate in client-facing meetings, including OCR remediation cases and WCAG 2.1+ projects, to communicate findings and provide guidance on accessibility requirements in an educational and professional manner.

  • Conduct accessibility pre-scans to identify immediate, high-priority issues and provide guidance on the current accessibility standing and next steps for remediation.

  • Execute full manual site reviews for client projects (including homepages, interior pages, and style guides) and provide detailed, actionable notes for project teams.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of accessibility tools such as AudioEye, including pulling and organizing reports for client consumption.

  • Respond to internal and client questions regarding accessibility and related tools, providing education and clarifying processes without offering direct consulting.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Support, Client Success, Professional Services) to address accessibility issues and ensure compliance across all digital properties.

  • Research and recommend accessibility solutions using reputable sources (W3C, MDN, WebAIM) to inform documentation, audits, and internal process improvements.

  • Contribute to accessibility documentation and internal knowledge bases to reduce repeat questions and promote consistent practices across teams.

  • Assist in prioritizing and escalating issues that cannot be resolved through normal workflows to the Product team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical web design or development role where accessibility best practices were a core responsibility, including at least 1 year in a dedicated technical accessibility role.

  • Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1+ success criteria and accessibility best practices.

  • Proficiency reviewing and hand-coding HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with ability to analyze markup and identify accessibility issues.

  • Experience using automated accessibility tools (e.g., Pope.tech, Axe, WAVE) and performing manual accessibility testing with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and keyboard-only navigation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings in client-friendly language.

  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and directly interfacing with clients.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, or CPWA) is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with accessibility reporting tools, assistive technologies, and client reporting processes.

  • Ability to research emerging accessibility standards and patterns and apply findings to audits and documentation.
