Commercial Truck Shop General Manager

The General Manager role is critical to the overall success of the business. The incumbent will not only lead and manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the shop, they will also sell services and repairs to clients as needed to help the shop reach targeted growth.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about heavy duty trucks, has a strong desire to lead a great team of professionals, and can identify opportunities for growth while ensuring best-in-class customer relations.

Job Responsibilities:

§ Managing Employees – Lead the shop staff to meet objectives and goals set forth by the company. Maintain company values, policies and procedures. Maintain work schedules, perform employee evaluations, provide coaching to employees not meeting expectations, oversee recruitment and training of all new employees.

§ Manage Stream of Work and Workflow – Generate new business via networking and outreach. Sell repairs and service to clients using company guidelines and best practices. Evaluate operations looking for efficiencies or process improvements.

§ Manage Financial Performance – Review and evaluate monthly P&L statements, identify potential financial improvement opportunities, identify potential cost savings opportunities while maintaining quality service and standards, set growth goals for the business and create plans to achieve goals.

§ Customer Service – Build and maintain best-in-class customer service, maintain customer satisfaction, provide coaching to employees regarding how to provide better customer service based on observations or customer feedback, handle customer feedback and prevent customer service issues whenever possible.

§ Ensuring Safety Standards – Cultivate and maintain an environment that practices safety guidelines and ensures that no one is hurt on the job.

§ Other Tasks – Other tasks as assigned by the company.

Minimum Qualifications:

§ Management Experience – Must have at least 2-5 years’ experience in a management or supervisory position, preferably as a General Manager, Service Manager, or Parts Manager. Diesel truck experience is a must.

§ Sales/Operations Experience – Must have at least 2-5 years in a heavy truck repair role with diesel engine experience.

§ Organizational Skills – Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner in an environment that can have frequent interruptions and distractions.

§ Computer Knowledge – Proficiency in Windows-based programs

§ Physical Demands and Other Abilities – Must be able to get in and out of vehicles without assistance, A Virginia driver’s license with a clean DMV record is required.
