Junior SCRUM Master (Project Coordinator)

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Junior SCRUM Master will report to the Director of Technical Project Management and serve several of the R&D project Teams to foster an effective and productive working environment and ensure the Teams follow the published standards and practices of the organization.  The Junior SCRUM Master will follow the published standards and practices, using Agile best-practices and common sense to help drive each Team sprint to success.

Job Responsibilities - Essential Functions

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead multiple daily SCRUM calls for several project Teams
  • Coordinate and lead project Team calls as necessary during the sprint
  • Coordinate and lead project Team sprint ceremonies
  • Mentor/coach Team members in alignment with the organization’s published standards and practices
  • Act as a facilitator on project calls, an impartial referee, to ensure best possible outcomes
  • Employ best-practices with a vision of driving towards high-quality deliverables
  • Actively work within the global organization to remove impediments
  • Collaborate with members of the Product Team to facilitate the progress of the Project
  • Collaborate with members of the Technical Team to facilitate the progress of the Project
  • Establish oneself as the calm and impartial voice in a room full of opinions
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the organization’s standards and practices

 Team Performance Reporting

  • Monitor the performance of the Team daily and pro-actively take action to ensure alignment to sprint objectives and goals
  • Employ continuous improvement methodologies to increase Team efficiency and deliverable quality
  • Provide feedback to Project Leadership on team performance and adherence to the organization’s standards and practices

 Project Management

  • Use the organizations published metrics and ratings to monitor and report on project Team performance
  • Communicate the status of the project throughout the project lifecycle to Stakeholders
  • Participate and contribute to the product’s planning, roadmap and release plans
  • Identify project risks and issues, communicate and work to resolve in accordance with best practices
  • Identify and partner with project stakeholders
  • Using good communication practices establish a trusting relationship with project stakeholders
  • Assist in driving projects to their published schedules, deadlines & milestones
  • Establish and execute communication plans to reduce project risks
  • Manage and maintain tools, metrics, and related processes
  • Work with a cross-functional, fully remote, multi-time zone global Team to complete project commitments


Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education
  • SCRUM Master certification or equivalent documented experience
  • At least 1 year experience as a SCRUM Master
  • Experience as a Project Manager or Project Coordinator
  • Primary experience in a software development organization
  • Experience with an Agile-based project online project management tool such as: JIRA, Target Process, Azure Devops or other equivalent tool

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree or higher

  • Ability to understand complex situations and determine a best option
  • Ability to be flexible and compromise
  • Capable of being SCRUM master for 4 teams at one time
  • Ability to work across global time zones
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools: Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively in email communications
  • Ability to communicate effectively in chat sessions: Teams, Slack, etc
  • Ability to plan and coordinate meetings with large groups of people
  • Ability to set and maintain a meeting agenda
  • Ability to work in a fully-remote setting
  • Ability to provide timely and appropriate feedback and responses
  • Perform and work independently

Work Environment

This job is fully remote. Working remote requires a high degree of self-discipline and the ability to perform without having physical supervision or an office setting.  Candidate must have the ability to maintain, at their own expense, an area in which they can focus, conduct meetings, conduct sensitive conversations and privately discuss company confidential information throughout the business day and extended hours when necessary.  Candidate must be able to support the needs of the Organization as-if in an office setting while performing the duties of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen.  The employee must be able to use a computer, computer mouse, computer keyboard, computer monitor for the entire business day with no issues or constraints.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position supporting a globally dispersed team.  Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This position will regularly require the employee to shift their hours either earlier or later to accommodate meetings with stakeholders, Clients, Customers or Leadership that are located in other time zones.

This position will occasionally require the employee to work on a weekend or into the evening hours in order to support the needs of the Organization.

Travel

This position does not require travel.
