About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for nearly 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

Responsibilities:

Teach a full range of courses to Associate of Applied Science students including, but not limited to:

  1. Information Security Fundamentals (CompTIA Security+)
  2. Tactical Perimeter Defense
  3. Strategic Infrastructure Security
  4. Survey of Operating Systems
  5. Operating Systems Concepts
  6. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  7. Introduction to Networking (CompTIA Networking+)
  8. Introduction to Linux

Class Specific Essential Duties:

The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by Cecil College. The adjunct faculty member supports the College’s mission and strategic plan initiatives, and will:  

  1. Perform all instructional duties to facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  2. Provide a syllabus to students, and follow syllabi content and requirements.
  3. Use classroom technology (Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc.) as appropriate.
  4. Submit requested information within established timelines.
  5. Consult with student and address their concerns.
  6. Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course.
  7. Conduct all work activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of population, views and learning styles.
  8. Accept that all responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and any other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Requirements:

Master's degree required. Master's degree PLUS a professional certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+, CISSP, CEH) preferred.  Some higher education teaching experience, and/or some relevant work experience is also preferred.
