Position Summary:

The Sr. Director, Revenue & Cost Accounting will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will be responsible for partnering with Information Technology and Commercial functions to build, scale and maintain systems and processes to support supply chain and outsourced manufacturing operations as well as support for commercialization workflows, such as gross to net accounting. The candidate will be a self-motivated individual, with plenty of drive and initiative, rolling up sleeves and taking an active role in developing and maintaining systems, controls and procedures needed in a commercial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and leads product costing and commercial methodologies and implementation of product costing systems.
  • Collaborates with the organization on the development of costing and commercialization systems, and monthly reporting including product margins and revenue transactions (gross to net calculations).
  • Recruits, trains and lead direct reports, as needs are identified.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and processes including Scrap, Inventory, and COGS to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policies. Identify potential issues and coordinate problem solving with other functional teams.
  • Support and maintain accurate costing methodology and revenue transactions as part of the build-out of our ERP system.
  • Leads cost audits and standard cost updates.
  • Ownership of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and compliance related to cost accounting and assist in revenue areas such as gross to net and forecasts.
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, taking ownership of revenue and cost accounting functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or CMA highly desirable
  • A minimum of 12+ years of experience, including revenue and cost accounting for commercial biotech operations
  • Excellent analytical, organization and communication (both written and verbal) skills with the ability to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Experience designing and improving accounting processes and workflows in a public company setting
  • Problem solving and strategizing capabilities
  • Demonstrated Excel modeling capabilities
  • Experience with implementation of ERP systems and modules

For this role, the anticipated base pay range starts at $260,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience.

At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
