Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Commercial, the US Regional Sales Director will lead the development and execution of a high-impact sales strategy to meet or exceed atacicept’s revenue goals for the region. As a vital member of the Commercial Leadership Team, this role will shape the regional vision aligned with brand strategy, and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, compliance, and collaboration while leading district managers and sales representatives.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier sales leaders and representatives, cultivating a culture of high performance, accountability, and innovation.
- Design and implement a regional sales strategy that aligns with atacicept’s brand objectives, leveraging deep market insights and customer needs.
- Drive team performance by setting clear goals, providing tailored coaching, and recognizing successful behaviors to maximize results.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Manage the regional budget, optimizing operational expenses and program investments for efficiency and impact.
- Utilize sales data and analytics to identify growth opportunities, inform strategic decisions, and contribute to quarterly business reviews.
- Lead regular sales meetings to align teams, share best practices, and foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge-sharing and creative problem-solving.
- Ensure strict adherence to pharmaceutical regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of compliance.
- Represent the field sales perspective on the Commercial Leadership Team, shaping strategic planning and addressing critical business needs.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, including 10+ years in sales leadership.
- Proven success leading product launches, ideally in nephrology or rare disease markets.
- Demonstrated expertise in building and scaling high-performing sales teams from inception.
- In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical sales regulatory landscape.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and drive evidence-based decision-making.
- Additional experience in sales operations, market research, marketing, or market access is highly valued.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to inspire and influence diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proven track record of achieving complex strategic goals and objectives despite highly challenging circumstances.
- Creates an inspiring environment in which team members feel motivated, consistently leading others in a manner that enhances team morale and collaboration.

Vera Therapeutics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $275,000 - $310,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience.
At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity. Vera Therapeutics also offers various benefits offerings, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match, flexible time off, and a number of paid holidays.
