ShareThis is a data company that is focused on providing the highest quality Internet user audiences to marketers. To fulfill this objective, the company hires and trains top notch engineers, who are capable of developing terabyte scale architectures and building cutting edge machine learning models. This summer, the ShareThis Data Science team is looking to hire several unpaid interns to help with these architectures and models, while learning about advertising technology and real-world applications of Apache Spark, NLP, text embeddings, and Neural Networks. An exceptional candidate with stellar performance will be given an offer to join ShareThis after the internship, subject to hiring availability.

NOTE: This is an UNPAID summer internship with ShareThis.


  • Build, evaluate, and deploy cutting edge models in machine learning and NLP

  • Contribute to design, architecture, and development of terabyte scale real-time and batch architectures

  • Deliver software projects using agile development processes

  • Drive product quality and direction by collaborating with users, product managers, and other engineers

  • Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions

  • Work with and learn from top scientists and engineers in high tech industry

  • Learn and understand the advertising technology industry and ecosystem

  • Learn and utilize big data tools, such as Apache Spark, BigQuery, and AWS

  • Make a presentation at the end of the summer about your progress and achievements


  • Students in STEM with at least a bachelor’s degree or near graduation from top STEM programs

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • Strong coding experience in Scala or Java

  • Prior experience with building and evaluating machine learning algorithms

  • Understanding of Apache Spark, MapReduce, HDFS, Cassandra, and Kafka

  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA 4.0

  • Student near completion of their MS or PhD in STEM from a top program 

  • Strong record of publications and conference talks
