Job Description

The Situation

With an A health rating and solid year over year growth, San Francisco Federal Credit Union’s (SFFedCU) membership is now over 45,000, with assets surpassing $1 billion and branches located in San Francisco and San Mateo County.  Continuing along its highly successful growth trajectory, SFFedCU is seeking a Security Systems Analyst/Senior Security Systems Analyst who is ready to make a difference to this transforming, growth oriented and locally based credit union.  This position reports to the Chief Information Officer in its San Francisco headquarters.

The Position

Security Systems Analyst /Senior Security Systems Analyst is responsible for the security planning and system maintenance and development of San Francisco Federal Credit Union’s host and ancillary systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains documentation of appropriate processes/workflows, including configuration, inputs/outputs, and interrelationships with other systems

  • Triages business system service requests, including security incidents, problems, and questions

  • Participates in project updates and server system maintenance

  • Performs security daily, weekly, monthly, and month-end process tasks required to deliver operational services at agreed to service levels

  • Automates processes and limits manual intervention

  • Monitors system alerts to provide system availability and operational stability

  • Collaborates with business units and IT team to define and understand existing services, evaluates requests for new or enhanced services and determines impact and/or efficiencies to be gained

  • Applies system upgrades and service review with IT Manager to reduce the vulnerability within the system network

  • Leads and executes service enhancements and defect fixes with all third-party vendors and developers

  • Manages the planning and execution of security and system integration  

  • Ensures a high quality, secure and resilient service is created or enhanced, resulting in the successful implementation and transition of the service features, components, technology and architecture (Not sure exactly what this means although would this be better placed in the Position Summary?)

  • Leads system enhancements to network to protect credit union from vulnerability

  • Leads audit requirements for National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) support

  • Leads special projects and perform other duties as assigned by CIO

  • Configures internal systems

  • Installs servers, devices, and firewalls, and monitors their performance

  • Manages the deployment of new applications

  • Trains new system users and set up their accounts

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements, Skills and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining and supporting infrastructure and security administration

  • Experience in supporting end-users utilizing problem solving and troubleshooting techniques

  • Experience with independently developing and implementing technology projects


  • Strong knowledge of Next Generation Firewall, SAN, LAN/WAN networks

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Unix/Linux is a plus

  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language, i.e., JavaScript, PHP, Python

  • Proficiency and thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook applications

  • Ability to work with API and 3rd Party vendors on console setup and maintenance

  • Applies a strong understanding of business applications and associated business and IT processes/workflows

  • Demonstrated current technological understanding in the execution of system and security administrative duties


  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong ability to interact and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and team members

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and/ or direction

  • Good problem-solving and communication skills

  • Cross train with IT team members the system supports necessary to align with the IT objectives for users and the members (this may be better placed with the second to last bullet under Responsibilities.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Standing, bending, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to use a computer keyboard, calculator, and mouse

  • Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk
