Job Summary

The Real Estate Loan Processor is responsible for delivering an exceptional Member Experience while processing mortgage loans. This includes all major functions during the loan process including file preparation for underwriting submission, document gathering, and data input into the LOS from loan origination through post-closing quality control. The Real Estate Loan Processor provides assistance in document preparation, tracking and scanning, and communicates on loan status to members, vendors, and any parties involved with the transaction. He/she will support the funder and be the backup for the Support Specialist.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Consistently delivers exceptional member experience

•    Dependably provides members status of loan files

•    Utilizes professional and friendly communication with members, third parties and outside vendors in all interactions

•    Displays  personal  accountability and  results  orientation  by  always  ensuring  timely  ordering  and accuracy of all loan documents such as credit reports, flood certificates, preliminary title reports, and appraisal reports; and consistently ensuring timely and accurate filing preparation and submission to Underwriting

•    Displays a sense of urgency and accuracy while inputting loan data into and when filing and scanning required documents

•    Takes initiative by always maintaining tracking information for post-closing documents; and consistently tracking and following up with title companies on title policies

•    Displays engagement in training RE Support Specialist on insurance tracking and demand of payoffs

•    Verifies HMDA data for input accuracy on reports; and monitors mortgage payment GL

•    Takes initiative by backing up the Support Specialists, as necessary

•    Updates internal daily rate sheet; and prepares files for re- conveyances and closes out paid off mortgage sweep accounts

•    Participates in Business Development and CommunityShare events

•    Performs other duties as assigned



Education and Experience

•      An Associate of Arts degree preferred or equivalent; and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with real estate loan processing with knowledge in consumer lending and new accounts process

•      A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with credit unions or like financial institutions

•      Notary Public, a plus

Skill Requirements

•      Must possess basic knowledge of credit union real estate loan policies, procedures and credit union lending practices

•      Maintain good working knowledge of and compliance with the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act

•      Must possess excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally

•      Ability to follow and process specific instructions and directives

•      Ability to provide prompt and professional service to internal and external members

•      Must possess excellent decision making skills, good judgment, be proactive, be solution-oriented and have the ability adjust to a fast pace and challenging environment

•      Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high standards and an appropriate professional image

•      Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff and members in a professional, approachable, and positive manner

•      Ability to effectively participate in team environment as well as must be able to work independently

•      Demonstrate commitment to self-improvement by taking the initiative of learning new skills, systems and procedures as well as taking advantage of the continuous education opportunities within and outside of the credit union

•      Computer literate and proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
