POSITION:                            Human Resources Specialist     

DEPARTMENT:                    Human Resources

FLSA STATUS:                     Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE:                 $30 - $35 per hour commensurate with experience

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for administering all aspects of Credit Union Human Resource (HR) functions, including but not limited to: recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee relations, HR training, and legal compliance.  Provides recommendations to Senior Leadership in establishing overall HR objectives, policies and plans.  Ensures HR activities are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures, federal and state laws. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and track full-cycle recruitment processes including approval of vacancies,  job description development, job postings, review of resumes, interviewing, reference checks; background checks, job offers, closing position, and informing all applicants of status of position

Ensure successful onboarding of team members

Oversee performance management including disciplinary action in compliance with HR policies and procedures

Provide management and team with accurate and knowledgeable advice on HR matters, including HR related policies and procedures and California/San Francisco specific Labor Laws

Ensures handbook and human resource policies are updated and communicated to management and team 

Oversee annual Core Performance Evaluation and merit process

Administer benefit plans, manage open enrollment and answer benefit inquiries. Research competitive benefit plans and make suggestions as appropriate.

Ensures Offboarding cycle with both voluntary and involuntary terminations is completed appropriately

Administer Worker’s Compensation and Leaves of Absence programs.

Maintain current employee information in all HR systems

Manage and maintain compliant personnel records

Ensures Human Resources related training programs are consistently implemented

Assists Senior Leadership in developing short and long-term objectives, goals, and strategies

Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, and updates policies to ensure compliance

Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Advanced verbal and written communication skills

Full administrator knowledge of ADP TotalSource

Advanced skills with MS Office Products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Highly organized with great follow through, ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, and make strong decision with good judgment with minimal supervision

Provide the highest level of service to internal and external clients

Promote teamwork and a corporative effort among team

Self – motivated, able effectively handle the unexpected and able to manage issues to close

Flexible to be proactive in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Ability to keep confidential matters confidential and demonstrate the highest level of integrity

Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

BA/BS in related field.

SPHR/PHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification

Minimum of four years previous Human Resources generalist/lead experience

Financial Services experience a plus

Work hours may vary depending on projects.
