The Position
The Director of Electronic Payment Services oversees the daily operations of the credit union’s Electronic Payment Services teams and their related products, services, and centralized support management. Strategically designs, develops, and implements efficient workflows to support sales, income production and servicing functions and continually improve the internal delivery and member service experience. Responsible for compliance and adherence to regulations and deadlines that impact process design, disclosure, business continuity and information security guidelines. Maintains relationships with key vendors involved in service delivery. Promotes and maintains the organization’s, mission, values, and culture. Works to maintain high employee engagement and is a cultural champion for the Credit Union.
Responsibilities
1. Leads the Electronic Payments Services teams providing direction, coaching, training, and ongoing development opportunities.
2. Develops each team’s business plan priority, action steps, budgetary implications and tactics that support the organizational strategic business plan and goals.
3. Develops and implements policies, procedures, roles, and administrative limits.
4. Provides organizational training on new product and service features or software, integration updates, regulation changes, policy, and disclosure requirements.
5. Stays informed on trends and developments ensuring products and services remain viable and relevant to continually meet the needs of our members and targeted sales expectations.
6. Works on product development to evaluate new and emerging software, interfaces, and products to ensure our sales, service and delivery process remain efficient, effective, and relevant.
7. Communicates and collaborates with the Chief Risk Officer to provide technical leadership, from strategic decision making to project planning and execution, to ensure products and processes are reviewed and aligned with service delivery objectives and goals.
8. Conducts departmental business continuity plan reviews and performs regular updates.
9. Ensure that cross-training is up-to-date, and critical functions are documented and can be performed in the event of a disaster.
10. Monitors and evaluates service delivery, work quality, and productivity. Ensures that optimal efficiency is maintained in all activities by maintaining a highly skilled team.
11. Monitors product/service income production (VISA, debit card interchange, etc.) and makes recommendations when anomalies are discovered, or targeted projections are not met.
12. Ensures that processes are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures and related state, federal and legal requirements.
13. Serves as lead contact for Electronic Payment Services internal and external audits/exams (i.e., Supervisory (CPA) audits, NCUA Examination).
14. Manages the annual ACH and Internet Banking Risk Assessments and new product and service risk assessments. Analyzes data for the purpose of implementing risk mitigation measures.
15. Oversee the administration of the credit union’s Digital/Mobile, Payments, Debit Card and Credit Card Systems. Collaborates with the technology department for maintenance, system design, interface applications and security. Manage roles, user templates and product configurations.
16. Evaluates new and emerging software, interfaces, and products to ensure our systems, service and delivery process remain efficient, effective, and relevant.
Who Are You?
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or related field.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in electronic payment services such as ACH, Wire transfer, card-related services in a financial institution, preferably in a credit union. History of increasing responsibility and leadership in developing and growing electronic services and ancillary digital/electronic products.
Thorough understanding of ACH, Wire and Card Servicing operations systems, functions, policies, and procedures.
Maintains knowledge of governing regulations, compliance and information security issues and provides management with updates regarding exposure to new or pending developments. • Demonstrated experience with regulatory agencies, requirements, and/or regulatory compliance. Ability to interface and build good working relationships with regulators/examiners. • In-depth understanding of financial services and high degree of business acumen.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and workflow analysis skills, including demonstrated ability to quickly synthesize information from various sources, identifying key points and issues and strategize for solutions.
Ability to apply judgment around risk management and control frameworks and industry best practices and make sound risk/reward decisions using a balance of data, logic and intuition to inform critical business strategies and processes.
Proven strong leadership and mentorship skills, with experience in leading initiatives related to electronic payments and remittances; ability to negotiate, influence, organize, and motive others. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative, cross-organization relationships, even in difficult situations.
Excellent communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills, including ability to convey complex situations and relationships concisely to management and executive level audiences, and/or non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, with a high degree of initiative and ability to self-start and self-prioritize assignments and make timely and effective decisions.
Strong process facilitation, process management and improvement skills; ability to independently and effectively handle multiple priorities and deliver a quality result within tight deadlines.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Solid work ethic and able to work effectively both independently and in a team.
