The Position
Position Title: Assistant Professor of Sport Management (Tenure Track)

Location: Salem, VA
Position Overview:
The School of Business, Economics, and Analytics seeks qualified candidates to apply for an Assistant Professor of Sport Management position beginning in August 2025. Teaching duties include Introduction to Sport Management, Sport Consumer Behavior and Marketing, the major capstone course, and potentially courses in the general studies curriculum. Upon approval, some of these courses may be taught online.
Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. (or ABD, expected by August 2025) in Sport Management or a related field and teaching experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in sport management. The candidate may also be asked to teach courses in the general education curriculum. There is an option to teach some courses online upon approval.
- Internship Program: Coordinate and manage the sport management internship program, including establishing partnerships with local and regional sport organizations, supervising student placements, and evaluating student performance.
- Student Advising: Serve as the main advisor for sport management majors, providing guidance on academic and career planning, and addressing student queries and concerns.
- Research: Engage in scholarly research and publication in the field of sport management.
- Service: Participate in departmental, college, and professional service activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Ph.D. in Sport Management or a closely related field.
- Experience: Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience in coordinating internship programs and advising students is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners.
